School Council

This year’s school Council members are:

Year 3 – Blake and Lily-Mae

Year 4 –  Maisie and Conall

Year 5 – Kyle and Lenci-Star

Year 6 – Nadia and Gerry

Their most recent project was our Smoke Free Week last week, 24 – 28.6.19 which was extremely successful! After deciding to go for the Smoke Free Gates and Smoke Free Sports certification, they planned an action packed week of lessons, a launch assembly, a poster competition, an assembly to inform parents of the lessons done in school and to announce the poster competition winners, and an information stall for parents before and after school on Friday. This was all to promote a smoke free environment around school, protecting children from the dangers of passive smoking and de-normalising smoking around children. The winning posters from EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 have been put up around the school gates and sports field, and the information stall gave parents the chance to consult on our new Smoke Free Policy and take away leaflets from Be Well Tameside to make a Smoke Free Home pledge and receive free support and advice.

The School Council were organised, passionate and professional and executed an excellent week in school, well done!

I’m sure all the hard work will result in the certification, watch this space!
