Nursery

Welcome to Nursery’s pages!

I, Mrs Rutter am the Nursery Teacher and Miss Stoneley is the Teaching Assistant. We work closely with the Reception Teacher and Teaching Assistant and together we make the Early Years team!

Religion is at the heart of all our teaching and learning.  “Together we are learning to follow Jesus” as friends in St James Nursery.

There are 7 areas to the early years curriculum and these are:

Communication and Language
Physical Development
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Literacy
Mathematics
Understanding the World
Expressive Arts and Design

We provide topic based continuous provision and child led activities as well as taught sessions and adult led activities to meet the different areas of the early years curriculum.

Nursery children have access to our outdoor area daily therefore need appropriate attire: wellies, waterproof and warm coat, warm winder hat in the winter. In the summer, sun cream applied before school, cool clothing and a sun hat in the summer. We ask that children have spare clothes including underware incase of accidents and getting messy (since we have so much fun with water, paint, jelly, foam, mud etc!) We recommend that children have a pair of wellies and sunhat both to stay in school at all times as the weather can be so unpredictable!

We visit the school library on Mondays so please be sure to send their books in!
