Class 1

Welcome to Class 1!

Our class teacher is Miss Chapman and our teaching assistants are Mrs Hogan and Miss Fawcett. The Autumn, Spring and Summer pages show you what we have been learning about in class each term. Please click on each term’s pages individually for updated news and photos of all the exciting things we have been up to! Check back regularly, you never know what you might find!

Some handy things to remember:

This year is a little different, and so at the moment we can’t bring reading books to and from school. If you have books at home, please still read them together everyday, and you can access Lexia at home as well to help support reading skills. The children have reading books in school and have lots of opportunities to read.

P.E. lessons are on Tuesdays. Please come to school in your P.E. kit on this day. This consists of a white T-shirt, blue or black shorts, leggings or tracksuit bottoms and pumps or trainers. If it is cold they can wear their school jumper. During the Summer term children will also need Forest Schools clothes on a Wednesday. This consists of long trousers and long-sleeved top, a warm jumper and hat in cold weather, wellies and a waterproof coat. A sun cap and the children already wearing sun-cream are required in hot weather.

Homework projects will be sent home at the appropriate time within a topic. This year we ask you to post these on our Class 1 Blog on Purple Mash.

Later in the year we will start spellings. These will be posted on the Class 1 Blog on Purple Mash on Friday and will be tested in a spelling test the following Friday. It is expected that the children practise their spellings for 5 or 10 minutes each night in order to learn them. There will be more information on this closer to the time.

Good News Assembly is every Thursday at 9.30am via Zoom! The whole school share in everyone’s achievements and Mrs. Walker will post the class stars on Facebook for parents to see. Lexia certificates and merit badges will still be celebrated and will come home on a Friday.

Here is the letter that came home on the first day of term that will fill you in on anything else you might need to know!
