Summer Term

This is what last year’s nursery were up to in the Summer term. This term we are learning about dinosaurs. We are learning the names of some dinosaurs, looking at their features, learning about where they lived and even what they ate!

It is a very exciting topic and the children are enjoying it . . . they have made masks, designed their own dinosaurs, hunted for dinosaur names, thrown dinosaur eggs in to nests and counted them. They have found some interesting things in the sand…I hope your children tell you all about it!

After the Whitsun half term break we will be looking at traditional tales.

Here are some of the ways we can use the stories to help our learning

Jack and the Beanstalk starts us thinking about plants growing.  We can also estimate how tall the giant is and think about how Jack would feel seeing the giant.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears will help us to think about the size of objects using words smaller, smallest, bigger, biggest. We can compare the size of the three bears and their belongings.

The Gingerbread Man is a story which we can join in with ‘run run as fast as you can.’

The Three Billy Goats Gruff give us the opportunity to talk about positional language. We can move the goats under and over the bridge.
