Introducing our Staff 2

I have worked as a Teaching Assistant for seventeen years, both in class and supporting individual children on a one-to-one basis. Working in Class 5 in the mornings, I support the class during English and Maths lessons and activities. In the afternoons I deliver interventions, which may be to individual children or groups, such as 1st Class@Number, Success@Arithmetic, BRP, Toe by Toe and individualised learning programmes. I am part of the ICT and Maths team within the school. As part of the 1-1 tutoring programme, I tutor Year 6 children after school to help them to prepare for their SATs. My interests and strengths, both in and out of school, are: Maths, computers, crafts and languages. Mrs Clark

At St James’ I am the Early Years Foundation Stage Leader and the Geography subject coordinator. I studied for a degree in Education with an Early Years Specialism and joined St James in 2010 as the part time Nursery teacher and after 2 years became the full time Reception class teacher. I studied a Masters Degree and reflected upon my teaching to research “Teamwork within a Foundation Unit” (graduating in 2012). I became the Early Years coordinator in 2013. I have overseen the development of the Reception Class and Nursery Class to become a Foundation Stage Unit with the children and adults working together as one team. St James’ is a lovely community to be a member of. As a parent to three daughters I understand the importance of a school that cares and nurtures. As a teacher, I know that every member of staff at St James’ really does care and wants to nurture every child to achieve their full potential.  Mrs Sanderson

I completed my NVQ III in Childcare and Education 18 years ago and worked for many years in Cumbria. I have worked at St James’ for 8 years as a level 3 Teaching Assistant. I have worked in EYFS and KS2. Currently I am in Class 4 with Mrs O Flaherty in the mornings. In the afternoons I work with groups of children doing interventions such as 1stclass@number, success@arithmetic, BRP, Toe by Toe and Lego Therapy. Within school I am one of many First Aiders. I also help run a very successful cheerleading after school club. I am joint Art Coordinator with Mrs Rutter. I love being involved with school plays, trips and Masses. My strong points are Art and Sport. Mrs Collins
