Introducing our Staff 3

In thinking about what to write for this section I have realised that I am in my 30th year of teaching, which is scary as I am sure that it is only a year or so since I was starting out a few days after my 21st birthday! In that time I have taught every year group, except Year 1, coordinated every subject, except science, and held every management role, except SENCo. All of this background and experience helps me in my current role as headteacher. I love being the headteacher at St James’ and feel so proud of our community on so many occasions. It is my mission to provide our children with as many experiences as possible. I help Mrs Kinder with the Music in the school and work with Terri and Mr Partridge to make sure we enter as many sporting events as possible. Mrs Walker

I have taught in Hattersley since I graduated 1999. I have a PGCE and a BA (hons) in Brass Band Studies. I was a class teacher until 2006 when I was given the opportunity to undertake some additional training and become a Reading Recovery teacher. I teach my Reading Recovery children every morning as well as leading most of the hymn practices. I work three afternoon each week, which are for English interventions for KS2. I have a band of brave knights helping Sir Kit on his quest and I’m also helping to prepare groups and individuals in Year 6 for their tests. I share the role of English co-ordinator with Miss Birtles and the role of Music co-ordinator with Mrs Walker. I also now share the SENCo role with Miss Chapman.  I love my job and the whole family of St James School. Mrs Kinder.
