Mini Vinnies

The Society of St Vincent de Paul has been engaging with young people and education since its earliest days.

‘Mini Vinnies’ are children aged between 7 to 11 (or younger) who, with the permission of their parents and the support of their schools, are encouraged to embark on their first steps as possible ‘Vincentians for life’.  Mini Vinnies have their own ‘treasured’ Prayer, Pledge and Badge, a dedicated website and a range of bright and colourful documents which guide them in their formative steps – helping and enabling them to become in every sense, young Vincentians – or ‘Mini Vinnies’.

At St James’, we have a Mini Vinnies committee who have regular meetings where they discuss their next steps with fundraising, giving and friendship. We organise events like: Fruity Friday, Children in Need and Lent Share Day. We plan and prepare assemblies and collective worship for the whole school.

Each year, we elect a new committee made up of the president, vice-president, secretary, vice-secretary, treasurer, vice-treasurer, community liaison officers and pray leaders. We also have children who work in our IT department to design and produce posters and letters. Children in Year 3 to Year 6 can apply for a role.
